GA ERA Camera Club - Awards

Updated March 19th, 2021

Individual Competitions

In each competition category, at least 3 places will be awarded and are calculated from member votes that are submitted before the voting deadline. Tie votes are also awarded. More than three awards are granted when more than 10 entries are received. If 11-13 entries are received, then 4 places are awarded. If 14 or more entries, 5 places are awarded.

Annual Awards

Independent judging of all awarded submissions will be done by a professional judge as funding permits. This typically occurs at the annual banquet where the professional judge will review the awarded submissions, grouped by classification. The judge will pick approximately 10 traditional and 10 artistic images, ranking them first, second, and third place for each category, with the remaining images receiving honorable mentions. Prizes will be awarded to those winning photographers, as funding permits.

In addition to the awards for each placed image, an award for photographer of the year will be determined. In each competition, submissions placing first will give the photographer 3 points, second place 2 points and third through fifth place 1 point. The photographer who has the most total points at the end of the year will be named “Photographer of the Year”.

Photograph of the year is determined by the total number of points a single photograph receives in the given year.
